After being released from prison, Paul begins to correct problems in the church. Paul opens Titus 1 reminding us that faith rests on God’s truth, for he cannot lie. This leads us to embrace godliness and reject false teachings that are based on myths, deception, traditions, and greed, as seen in the circumcision group mentioned in this chapter.

Paul gives Titus the authority to deal with unfit church leaders and appoint worthy ones. Spiritual leaders, especially elders, are called to be above reproach, hospitable, self-controlled, and firmly committed to sound doctrine. They must rebuke the ungodly and refute falsehoods. In a confused world, our character becomes a testimony; we can reflect God through purity in private, integrity in public, and kindness to the weary. Grace doesn’t lower the bar—it empowers us to live up to it. We can start by praying to God, asking him to align our lives with his unchanging word, and trusting fully in his promise of eternal life. Where correction is needed, receive it; where courage is required, stand firm. Let your home be a refuge, your words a compass, and your heart always anchored in hope. Christ is worthy.
