MY SPIRIT REJOICES IN GOD MY SAVIOR

Date : Dec 23, 2026
Passage : Luke 1:39~66
Keyverse : 45

After being visited by the angel, Mary went to Judea to visit Elizabeth. She did not try to figure out her marriage situation, but she humbly accepted and acted on the word of the Lord. When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby in her womb leaped for joy and she was filled with the Holy Spirit. Elizabeth told Mary that she was blessed, because she believed that what the Lord had said to her would be accomplished.

In response, Mary sang a song of praise to the Lord. Her soul glorified the Lord and her spirit rejoiced in God her Savior. He is mindful of the humble, he extends mercy to those who fear him, and he alone performs mighty deeds with his arm. He fills the hungry with good things and remembers his covenant. We never need to worry that God might forget his promises. He is faithful forever.

The time soon came for Elizabeth to have her baby. All could see that the Lord had shown her great mercy. After the baby boy was born and circumcised, his parents named him John in fulfillment of the angel’s words. However, this went against their customs. When Zechariah confirmed that the boy would be named John, suddenly his mouth was opened and he praised God. Zechariah’s mouth was once filled with doubt, but now it was filled with praise. Let us praise and worship the Lord for all he has done and for his great faithfulness.
Application: Father, you are amazing. You remember your covenant and you show mercy to every generation. Would that our mouths be filled today with praise!
One Word: My soul glorifies the Lord
