RETURN THE LAND IN THE YEAR OF THE JUBILEE

Date : Dec 16, 2026
Passage : Leviticus 25:23~34
Keyverse : 28

In verses 23-28, God gives the Israelites instructions about returning the land to its ancestral owners in the year of the Jubilee, as well as instructions on redeeming the land. They were to give back the land in the year of Jubilee as a sign of faith that all the land belongs to the Lord. The promised land in Canaan was not their final home, but it looked forward to our true Promised Land in heaven above. Whatever we have in this world is from the Lord, and we are to be proper stewards of it, fixing our hope in God.

God also gave laws protecting the poor. The year of Jubilee was a time to restore a family’s property and to give them a second chance in life. It was truly a foretaste of our freedom and new life in Christ.

Verses 29-34 describe the regulations for redeeming land in a city wall, a village, or the pastureland. The Lord protected the lands of the priests, for he was their inheritance. Their pasture lands were their permanent possession.
Application: Father, everything I have is yours. Help me to be a good steward of my property and enjoy the freedom I have to use it for your glory.
One Word: The land belongs to the Lord
