God commanded that the offerings given to him had to be without defect. Blind, injured, or blemished animals were not acceptable sacrifices. This requirement reveals that an offering reflects a person’s heart toward God, serving as an outward expression of an inward condition. Yet some could treat it as a mere obligation by offering animals that were weak or unwanted. But God deserves our best, not our leftovers. He is worthy of honor, reverence, and devotion.

God also instructed that an animal had to be at least eight days old, and that the offering had to be prepared properly and completely. These details show that God cares deeply about how he is worshiped. Worship should not be casual or careless; it requires intentionality and obedience. Worship is not merely an outward action; it reveals the true condition of the heart.

God strongly reminded his people to keep his commands and to not profane his holy name. He brought them out of slavery and made them holy. Therefore, obedience to God’s commands is our natural response to his redemption and a sincere expression of our hearts, revealing his holiness. Through Christ Jesus, we are saved and made holy to glorify his holy name.
