PETER FAILED WHILE JESUS STOOD FIRM

Date : Nov 22, 2026
Passage : Matthew 26:57~75
Keyverse : 75

After Jesus was arrested, the religious leaders sought false testimony against him and condemned him (59). Although falsely accused, mocked, and beaten, Jesus stood firm and faithfully testified to the truth - that he was the Messiah, Son of Man, who had the authority over the world next to the Almighty God (64).

Meanwhile, Peter followed at a distance and, fearing men, denied his Lord three times, just as Jesus had predicted (58, 69, 72, 74). Jesus remained faithful under persecution because he had surrendered himself to the Father's will. Peter was learning a valuable lesson from his failure: he lacked the right equipment to resist the pressure, even though he had human confidence in himself (1 Peter 5:8).

When the rooster crowed, Peter realized how weak he was, but Jesus, knowing it all, had loved him (75,34). his tears were bitter, but he had hope, as he repented and remained in Jesus, until he would learn to depend on the “mighty hands of God” (1Pe 5:6-7).
Application: Father, you are my strength and hope. Please help me to have strength in you today.
One Word: Jesus knows our failure
