GOD IS OUR DELIVERER

Date : Nov 11, 2026
Passage : Psalm 78:40~72
Keyverse : 65

The Psalmist continues to describe how Israel sinned against God. While journeying through the wilderness on the way to the promised land, they continued to put him to the test through their unbelief, failing to remember the wonders God had performed to lead them out of Egypt (41). Yet despite their rebellion, God remained faithful and still gave them the land he had promised (55).

Even in the promised land, Israel continued to be unfaithful and stirred up God’s jealousy through their worship at high places and their devotion to idols (58, Judges 21:25). Eventually, God disciplined them by allowing Shiloh and the tabernacle to be captured by the Philistines (60-61).

Then God awoke like a warrior and came to the rescue. He chose David as Israel’s shepherd and king (70-71), who would lead his people with integrity and skillfulness. God does not condone sins, but in his mercy he removed our sins through Jesus Christ. Like a warrior who wakes from a slumber, Jesus conquered death by rising from the grave after dying on the cross, giving us the hope of eternal life. Therefore, in times of hardship and discipline, we must remember God’s faithfulness revealed through Jesus’ death and resurrection, and trust that he will faithfully lead us.
Application: Father, thank you for your deliverance. We trust in you Lord.
One Word: God is our deliverer
