The LORD instructs the priests how to if a destructive mildew was present in clothes. (13:47-59). Such clothes must be burnt (13:52,55,57).

Certifying healing of leprosy is as critical as diagnosis and isolation. When a leper is healed, he had to bring two clean birds, cedar wood, scarlet yarn, hyssop, and then kill one of the birds. The priest sprinkled the blood on him seven times, pronounced him, “clean”, and released the other bird (14:7). Then the healed man entered the camp, but stayed outside of the tent for seven days.

On the eighth day, the priest offered, for his atonement, a guilt offering, a sin offering, a burnt offering, and a grain offering (14:10). If the man was poor, he could bring two clean birds instead of two sheep. Like the priests’ ordination (8:23,24), the priest took the blood of the guilt offering and oil, and put it on the right ear, thumb, and toe of the healed man (14:14,17). This reminds us of the High Priest, Jesus who came to us, cleansed us with his own blood, gave us new life through his resurrection, and made us royal priests to serve him (1Pe 2:9).
Application: Father, thank you for saving me from my spiritual leprosy through Jesus’ atoning sacrifice, and cleansing my ears, hands and feet. I will serve you till my last breath.
