Verse 25 says the sin offering was offered before the LORD, for it is holy. The expression “before the LORD” is used more than 60 times in the book of Leviticus, and the word “holy” (or “holiness”) is used 152 times. These sacrificial laws reveal that God is holy and demands his people to be holy.

A portion of the sin offering was given to the priest who offered it (26), unless it was offered for national atonement. The offering was burnt completely (30). Anything that touched it had to be cleansed because the offering quite literally absorbed people’s sin. The laws regarding the guilt offering were similar (7:1-10). The blood (life) and fat (the best portion) were offered completely to God. The meat portions belonged to the priest who officiated the sacrifice. The sacrifices were eaten in the tabernacle, because they were holy. A portion of the grain offerings belonged to the priest, (9) and were in the holy place. These laws were instilled in people with a dread of sin and joy in holiness.

Moreover, these laws disciplined the people by cautioning them from approaching God casually. Sin is serious and must be dealt with. Ultimately, it is only the sacrifice of Jesus that makes us holy. Therefore, we must loathe sin and worship the Lamb of God Jesus! (Rev 5:12)
