THE LORD IS MY SALVATION

Date : Apr 18, 2026
Passage : Psalm 27:1~14
Keyverse : 1

David proclaims, “The Lord is my light and my salvation… (1a)” and “The Lord is the stronghold of my life (1c)”. Light, salvation, and stronghold refer to David’s way of life and his security.

David’s foes were so many (Ps 3:1), even his son rose up against him (2 Sam15:13). He alone fought Goliath, but when King Saul tried to kill him, his heart sank. He said, “There is only a step between me and death (1 Sam 20:3c)”. When his own son Absalom rebelled against him, David said, “We must leave immediately” (2 Sam 15:14b) in an urgent situation.

Yet, David was confident in times of trouble. First of all, David sought God (4, 8). He prayed to God, “Do not hide your face from me, do not reject me or forsake me, God my Savior (9)”. And he remained confident. He waited for the goodness of the Lord (13). God blessed his faith and not only saved him but also raised him and set him high upon a rock (5b).
Application: Lord, help me be still in times of trouble and pray rather than be captured by fear.
One Word: The Lord is my salvation
