When the people of Judah prayed earnestly, God spoke through Jahaziel, son of Zechariah. “‘Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s.’”

God’s message for them was that they did not have to fight this battle. God said, “Stand firm and see the deliverance of the Lord will give you.” This is against human instinct. We have a tendency to either fight or run away. Trusting God’s direction not to fight but stand firm requires our trust in God’s sovereignty and his love. When we believe that God will fight our battle and that we only need to stand firm, God will surely bring about his victory.

They did not go to Desert of Tekoa with a worried heart and half belief. They sang and praised God. Then God ambushed the enemies, and they killed each other. When Judah came upon them, they only saw the dead bodies. God had won the battle. The vast army that made Judah shudder was annihilated. God is pleased when we give our faith to God and sing and praise him. We cannot win against our strong enemy Satan. But when we stand firm and wait on God’ deliverance, God will fight our battles and give us victory.
Application: Lord, battles belong to you. Help us to stand firm and see your deliverance. May we experience your great victory in our life by believing that the battle is yours and not ours.
