DEVOTED TO THE LORD

Date : Nov 17, 2025
Passage : 2Chronicles 17:1~19
Keyverse : 3

Jehoshaphat was a good king. He sought the God of his father and followed his commands. He removed high places and Asherah poles. When his heart was devoted to God and was right with God, God established all Judah under Jehoshaphat’s control. In the third year of his reign, King Jehoshaphat even sent Bible teachers to the towns of Judah to teach them the Bible. They used the ‘Book of the Law of the Lord’ to teach the people.

When Jehoshaphat and all Israel fully sought God, the fear of God fell on the surrounding nations. They brought tributes such as gifts, silver, and flocks. They did not dare to go to war against Jehoshaphat. God was pleased with Jehoshaphat and blessed him more and more. Jehoshaphat became powerful, and he had many experienced fighting men with him.

When Jehoshaphat tried to seek God, follow God’s commands, and devoted his heart to God, his life was blessed abundantly. He removed the idols and sent Bible teachers throughout Judah. As a result, God firmly established his kingdom, made him to be feared by the surrounding nations, and blessed him richly with wealth and powerful armies. What God wants is our heart to be fully devoted to him.
Application: Lord, help us to repent of our idolatry, and may our hearts be fully devoted to you.
One Word: Fully devoted to God
