Unlike many false prophets at the time, Micah spoke truth to power, which was a bold yet dangerous thing to do. The ones in power did whatever they wanted. They robbed those who could not defend themselves. Corrupt priests and false prophets were all under their influence.

God would humble the proud and wicked and they could do nothing in their own power to save themselves. And God would gather his remnant, who were like sheep without a shepherd. God would send a good shepherd to care for those who were taken advantage of and abused.

Many are under the weight of injustice by leaders who do what they want with no one to stop them. God knows our pain and sorrows. That is why Jesus came in the midst of darkness, to bring light and salvation. God is with us as a good shepherd. He also uses us as his servants like Micah, to be bold witnesses and agents of grace and truth.
Application: Lord, save us from corruption and help us to follow the Good Shepherd, Jesus.
