In this chapter is written the account of the final battle between God and Satan. The angel of God will bind Satan and throw him into the Abyss, where he will stay for 1,000 years. During this time, Christ will reign along with the apostles and those who have been martyred for him. They all will come to life and reign with Christ for 1,000 years. This is the first resurrection, which shows the second death has no power over them. Eternal life is given in Christ Jesus!

After the 1,000-year reign of Christ, Satan must be released again for a short time. There will be a great battle, with the forces of Satan having a numerical advantage. But God will send fire from heaven, and they will be consumed. Satan will then be thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, along with the beast and the false prophet. There, they will be tormented forever and ever.

After this will come the final judgment, where all the dead will appear before the throne of God. The book of life will be opened. Those whose names are in it will be saved. Otherwise, they will be thrown into the lake of burning sulfur.
Application: Father, thank you for Jesus and his grace and mercy. It is only through him that our names will be written in the book of life.
